ABOUT THE TOPIC:  Starting a high-tech business that one day may go public requires a bit of planning.  This event is the second of four events related to the subject.

A good founder does everything to raise the valuation of a business before raising money. Many businesses have been able to raise significant financing with the founders spending little, if any, of their own money. This event focuses on how to achieve financing with little cash expenditure by building the most valuable aspect, the “Team”.

We also discuss what that little cash expenditure should be, i.e. forming your company and structuring it to receive investment. In particular, we will discuss the essential legal and accounting framework that should be set in place day one to avoid irreversible problems later on.

Carrie Tsang-Hidding will speak about the initial accounting issues and considerations that affect start-ups.

Julian Chan will speak about legal formation considerations, legal aspects related to fund-raising, and structuring deals to avoid later issues.

Mark Wilson and Julian Chan will address the nature and role of the “Team” members that manage a start-up. They will focus on describing what is considered by most experts to be the most essential characteristics required for the success of a start-up.

A question and answer section shall then follow.

We encourage entrepreneurs, angel and venture capital investors, and all others to come.

Be sure to bring your business cards.
