Message from the 2008-2009 Chairman

Joseph Tseng

I am honored to be representing Southern California Monte Jade Science & Technology Association (SCMJ) as its 2008-2009 chairman, and will do my best to achieve the high standards set by the past presidents who have preceded me.

While I am thrilled at the prospect of continuing and expanding upon SCMJ’s fine tradition of service to our community and members, I am also daunted by the thought of following the footsteps of the many distinguished past chairmen including Dr. Owen Wu, Dr. K.C. Wang, Mr. Daniel Shih, Mr. Lou Chang and Dr. S.C. Lee.  This year, I can only hope to live up to the able leadership of those who have preceded me.

The main goals I plan to achieve for 2008-2009 are:

1.    To increase SCMJ’s visibility and name recognition.

2.    To increase and expand our membership.

3.    To improve our organizational infrastructure such as website upgrade etc.

4.    To attract and nurture new, enthusiastic and talented members who will take SCMJ to the next level.

Obviously, there are many other things I would like to achieve for SCMJ but I prefer to focus on only a few of them and try to do them well.  With the help and support from our members, I welcome and feel confident about overcoming the challenges ahead of me.

The strength of SCMJ has always been rooted in the vision, innovation, energy, passion, team work, dedication, value-added approach and family-like spirit of its membership.  It is not an organization that limits itself to the technology industry only.  Rather, SCMJ distinguishing itself by encouraging and inspiring successful entrepreneurship and creativity via its extensive network of professionals and various programs. In that regard, I hope you will join me in furthering our efforts.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the entire team of SCMJ members and volunteers who have worked so hard for our May 17, 2008 annual event.  Special thanks are extended to Charles Wu, our dinner chair, as well as Lou Chang, Daniel Shih, Lulu Wang, Owen Wu, Jay Min, Wynne I and many others.

Again, I am excited about the coming year, and I welcome your ideas and suggestions.  Above all else, I look forward to serving you.
